The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

The first 10 minutes of the film was boring the introduction of the characters was really slow and a bit hard to understand. Once the story started it really started. The movie is about a reporter who had been sued by the court for his entire life savings and whether he has his revenge or not. Now if I put it like that I guess it would be a normal story so what makes this one special is that the reporter is going to have to solve a murder that happened in the 60s to get evidence. Would he solve the case and would he have his vengeance is the story. I did like the way most scenes are taken though I thought there were a couple of scenes that could have been better portrayed. All over a nice thriller and a definite winner.

The Adventures of Tintin (2011)

Tintin on the big screen is always a pleasure to hear of. And when it comes from the workshop worked by Steven Spielberg it really is going to be a pleasure to watch. The movie is absolutely CG but shows very little sign of it. Everything that he has done in this movie surpasses what he has done so long. The CG is real good as so real like and the 3D technology has been used to the apt level. The movie by itself is tremendous and is an adventure on the run. The speed of the movie never slow down and that is one factor that I really appreciate, a feature that most films lack.

Puss in Boots (2011)

The kitty cat with wits is up on screens to give a performance as never before. The movie shows a completely new story about the legendary puss that we have read about. The story shows puss teaming up with other characters from various rhymes and stories coming together to create an amazing treat. the story of the new puss in cowboy style and the voice of Antonio Bandaras and Salma Hayek who have the most experience with most experience is films featuring the west adds spice to the film. A true treat to watch for fantasy lovers.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)

Yet another Sherlock Holmes movie. The story about the great detective and his faithful partner of whom we have read about in books coming live on the screens. The detective is on the verge of the case and as usual his suspicions are not really supported by anyone  other than himself. The film rolls on to show the detective loosing his beloved and the misery following him till the end of the movie until the case is solved. Another mystery solved by the detective. The screen play and the picturization are plus for the movies when the black tint (which follows from the first movie) to the picturization might be a bit annoying. A nice movie to watch.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)

 

Tom Cruise all the way (excepting for he has gone old – I mean not in the movie but for real). Another mission at hand and the IMF is shut down due to an external affairs issue. The team has to go rogue and complete the mission if they are to have the IMF reinstated. As usual the movie shows Ethan (Tom) doing all the usual stuff he does but in a more sophisticated environment as most of the movie is shot in Dubai and in one of the worlds astonishing towers. The run on the sand storm might be a bit hard to follow but I guess that could be ignored considering there is always a part in MI that goes a bit vague. Anil Kapoor being introduced has no big role to play as he is just another passing cloud in the big movie. For MI fans this should be a good one for others this should be just another movie.

The Descendants (2011)

George Clooney gives a great performance in this movie. The movie shows him as a dad caught up in work always (as most dads) and doesn't have time for his family. He is forced to spend time home as his wife meets with an accident and is on her death bed. This father not knowing how to deal with her little daughter goes on to bring in his elder one from college. The coming of the elder daughter is where the story starts to roll when the dad is informed about his wife’s relationship with another man. The dad as always tries to find out who the man is and how he deals with this guy and his family is the whole story. There is a parallel story on this where this dad is a sole trustee to a huge property that they are about to sell and his decision for that property also comes as a result of the happenings on dealing with the situation at hand. A story that today’s generation where life is fast and stops for none. A great movie with lovely picturization.

The Artist (2011)

It gives me great delight to be able to start writing about my fave hobby after a long time. The reason I write is this movie. The Artist is a complete silent movie where in the memories of olden times come alive for the new generation to see. Myself have not seen any silent movies before this (other than Charlie Chaplain of course). But watching this movie has really got me thinking about how much effort the artists in these kind of movies had to put in to get the expression as the same cant be provided through words. This movie shows the life of an artist who is at the peak of his career with silent movies when the talkies are introduced. For people who don’t know what a talkie is, it is a movie just like the silent movies which has voice added. So after the introduction of the talkies what happens to him is the story. A lot of nice words to put in for this film but stopping here so that I don't wish to ruin the movie while you see it. A must see film and one that will provide delight the set the lights the back ground score everything makes it a real treat to watch. Kudos to the team that made this film. Everybody please try to watch this film and understand what real acting is all about.

The movie shows the start of how the X-Men are formed. IT shows how the professor gathers his troops and how Magneto becomes evil. Once thick friends now the worst sworn enemies. The movie has a good flow and creates anxiety and surprises the viewers with some incredible scenes. As this is the actual start of the X-Men sequel the movie is sub-standard considering the earlier once. But as said the movie is the start of something great so most probably the team will work more on the upcoming versions of the movie. A good movie to watch.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

The movie is about a guy who is considered unfit for the military becomes part of an experiment which involves the creation of the perfect soldier. As part of the experiment he becomes all that he wasn’t with powers beyond what he ever expected and wait till he tries them on the villains of the state. A not so interesting movie for me might be. Could have been better considering the amount of work done on the same. Seems there will be a sequel shortly and hopefully it will be better than this one.

An American journalist comes to Puerto Rico to join a local news paper which is already running bankrupt. The chief editor of the firm hires Paul from America in an effort to bring the current situation of the newspaper around. Paul has plans of his own on what to write. With help from his friends from the new firm he plans on exposing a scam that was about to happen. The story shows of whether Paul was able to expose the scam as he wanted to. Paul being played by Johnny Depp was a treat to watch. A slow moving movie which takes some time to understand.

Real Steel (2011)

A movie of a father who puts his heart and soul into what he does. What does he do? Boxing… Ya, in the future when robots are used for boxing matches a veteran boxer who deserted his family and friends to be a great boxer ends up being a loser for life. The man is faced with a tough decision of taking care of his son who he deserted long back. The story shows how the father and son develop a strong relationship due to his passion (robot boxing) and a robot named “Atom”. The story line is basic and seen in many movies but the way it was handled is all the difference you would ask for. I enjoyed the movie and recommend the same to you.

The Three Musketeers (1993)

The bishop and the captain of the royal army of France plot against the crown and dismiss the Musketeers as part of their plan to taking the crown. Three loyal musketeers who won’t be dismissed so easily would be joined by a to be musketeer in an effort to save the crown. The character of Athos, Aramis, Porthos and D'Artagnan are played by great casts and everybody did their roles to entertain. The movie is a treat to watch.

The Three Musketeers (2011)

The three musketeers is the movie based on the famous book by its name. The script however is new and not that interesting. The movie that came out in the 1993 is far better than this movie. The usage of a flying ship or the 3D technology has not proved to help the script. The script is rather normal and accordingly is the whole work. For anybody who has seen the old three musketeers would definitely agree that this movie was not a Musketeer movie rather a fantasy movie with some action packed into it.

Unstoppable (2010)

 

The film starts with showing how a train goes unmanned and at full throttle on a track it should not be going on. The movie goes on to show how a rookie conductor and a veteran driver on an engine try to stop the unmanned train. The driver’s role being played by Denzel Washington is apt as always. The expressions he gives on his last call to his daughters and the ones he gives when he sees that he can’t stop the train after going half way on the unmanned train are simply splendid. The movies tempo is the one thing that made me watch the movie for more than 8 times as of now. Wait for the surprise element at the climax.

The Next Three Days (2010)

A beautiful family that doesn’t remain a family anymore after the wife is being accused of murdering her boss. The wife is taken to the county jail and is sentenced for life. The story is about a desperate husband (who is a teacher) lets go of his identity to get what he loves back. The sequence of planning by the husband to save her wife before she gets transferred to another jail is shown in a very impressive manner by both the technicians as well as Russell. The movie has a brilliant story line and a well executed story. Watch out for a scene where the car spins out of control that is taken in a very impressive manner.

Trespass (2011)

This movie is about a family living in a posh house being robbed and how the family reacts to the robbery. As anyone’s guess might be Cage and Kidman are the two main cast of the movie. They are a rich couple living in the house mentioned above. They have their personal differences which they didn’t know how to go about and suddenly to add pressure the robbery happens. What happens to the family is the million dollar question. Cage as usual has given his best as is Kidman but I am not sure why I thought this but I thought this kind of a script is too low for big stars like Kidman and Cage. The movie is watchable and doesn’t miss a beat.

The Devil's Double (2011)

This movie is mind blowing if you understand what you are watching. Based on the true life story of a person who had to play the double of Saddam Hussein’s son (Uday). The story starts by showing how Uday selects a person to be his double/decoy and how he makes him become one. This person (Latif) who loses his identity due to Uday’s action always wants to get out at least by way of death. Uday wants him so much that he makes him stay by threatening Latif with his families safety. Is Uday able to escape or not is the question. Scenes to lookout for is the scene where Saddam comes to visit his son (Uday) who had taken too much drugs and is under medication. Simple story line, lovely act by Dominic Cooper.

The King's Speech (2010)

 

A film which is a must see. Many may consider too slow or full of dialogues but the movie has more to it than that meets the eye (when looked on a cover). The movie shows how a duke who can’t complete a sentence without stuttering delivers one of the most significant speeches in the history of England. The story line is very basic but the way the director has gone around building the story and visualizing it makes anyone to enjoy this movie. One exceptional scene to lookout for would be the scene where the Duke is advised on why his speeches are important by his Father. Brilliant flow and grace in the act of both Collin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.

The nation awaits to hear him speak… Will He???

In a distant future where human beings have been re-engineered to age only up to the age of  25 and then have just an year more to survive everything is paid with time. One has to sacrifice his time on earth to avail benefits like food, clothing or anything that you may buy with money. The story shows how Will a boy who is on the edge of his end gets into a situation where in by some good luck gets a century extended. The question here is whether the years given to him as a gift was really a gift or a curse. The movie is pictured in a very nice manner and the point of the movie being made very clear. A different approach to the storyline which is well thought of. Good script and good execution of the same makes it watch worthy.

never back down a good storyline which reminds us that some fights are meant to b fought and only if u fight them could u see to the future. they explained it with violence but it applies to all matters we face in life. truly wonderfully done. The mothers character is done by the artist
