Baana Kaatahadi (2010)

Baana Kaathadi is a film which shows the craze on kites that kids in Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai have for kites. It actually shows how the kids don't even care about their own lives while chasing for a kite that is unclaimed. The movies starts with showing one such run. The hero who chases the kite without bothering about public falls over the heroine and accidentally takes her pen drive consisting of her college project. The heroine tries to find this guy and get the pen drive back. In due course the heroine and hero fall in love but gets separated due to some reason. The heroine then understands that the fault was not that of the hero's and woos him for the rest of the movie. In the mean time hero witnesses a crime while it is in progress and the guys who did the crime are ready to kill him. What happens towards the last whether the hero is killed by the gangsters or does he accept the heroines love or does he not accept her is the question that the climax answers. Good script and screenplay. Slow but steady on its pace.

Shooter (2007)

Shooter is brilliant story about a sniper who is asked by US officials from the agency and bureau to help them in solving a threat that they had received regarding the assassination of the President. The sniper considered to be the best among the living goes around and figures out where the shot may be taken from. The day of the assassination comes and the sniper finds out that he was in the middle of a political plot where in the people whom he helped are trying to kill the President and frame him. He escapes and as in all movies goes after the guys who screwed him up. The plot is very good the speed of the movie very stable and the rhythm not dropping at all. Good work on covering the angles chosen by a sniper. Great movie to watch.

The Hessen Affair (2009)

The Hessen Affair is a story that happens in the 1940's. Visualized beautifully the movie goes on to show a new military official from the US joining in at Berlin. The time when the US had captured Berlin. As all conquerors  once they had Germany the US militants start sketching out various parts of the castle and the city looking for valuables. This new officer with a little help from one his subordinates find the Crown Jewels. The Official decides to sell the crown jewel in New York and keep the fortune with his crew (who know about these jewels). The story goes on to show how the Crown Jewels are smuggled into New York and how they loose the jewels and at the end do they make a fortune out of it on not. A rather interesting but slow story to watch. As said earlier visualizing old Berlin is really something they had worked around.

Godspeed (2010)

Godspeed is a very complex movie to understand. Its a movie about a preacher who preaches ideas and seems to have the gift of healing others. It starts with one of his sessions at the church addressing some people. All the preacher does is help people understand their worries and face them. This is not really healing but a means to healing (the person releived of his stress automatically can concentrate and put in more energy into healing himself). The story then moves on to show the preachers family being killed and the preacher goes into exile to mourn for his family. One day he finds himself in the company of a girl who says that someone in her family needs help. She forces him to go with her to her place and there it all starts. The girl's brother is a person who tries to create a new world which depends on the principle "an eye for an eye". The clash between this guy, the preacher and the emotional tension that the girl undergoes is what the movie is all about. Visuals are real good and the locations very carefully chosen. A movie you can watch if you are looking for a complex subject and if you dont have anyone else at home. There is this one scene in the middle of the movie which requires Parental Guidance. Otherwise all is well.
